Investment Analyst

Reporting to:  Chief Investment Officer.
Location: Lagos State.

Role Purpose
To provide fundamental investment analysis and research and market analysis on Nigerian companies, markets and sectors covering various asset classes.

Responsibilities

    Financial statement analysis and company valuation
    Bond & money market analysis, pricing and valuation
    Economic analysis and reporting
    Other markets as required
    Working knowledge of the equity, bond, money and property markets
    Working with computerised financial information systems.
    Report writing
    Providing financial training for other staff.
    Working with other support functions; Microsoft suit - Excel, Word, etc
    Communication skills, written and spoken
    Team work & supervisory skills
    Financial reporting & analysis
    Aptitude to provide creative solutions to financial problems
    Computer literacy
    Ability to be self-motivating and work without close supervision

Requirements

    A 1st degree in Accounting or Economics
    Relevant Masters Degree would be an added advantage
    Excellent Financial Reporting and Analysis skills
    Excellent Economic Analysis skills
    Excellent use of Microsoft suite - Excel, Word, etc
    Excellent Strategic Planning skills
    The ability to motivate a team
    Initiative and enthusiastic
    Excellent communication and people skills
    Good planning and organisational skills
    The ability to work calmly under pressure
    At a minimum a CFA or CFA Level II

Unit Head - Audit and InvestigationsUnit

 Ensuring that documents are filed with the Registrar of Companies within the prescribed time limits such as the company's annual and other returns
Communicating with the company's members and notifying the members of meetings of the company, details of proposed resolutions to be considered at meetings, circulating them with copies of the annual financial statements
 Delivering copies of special resolutions and certain other resolutions passed by the company
 Publishing statutory notices
 Administering share transfers
 Ensuring that the board's decisions are properly communicated
 Custody of the company seal
 Ensuring the company has its name in legible lettering, outside each place at which it conducts business
 Ensuring that the company's letterhead bears the appropriate details

 Legal Advisor
Responsible for advising the company on all business matters
Responsible for liaising with security agencies on behalf of the company and its staff
Advise company on legal disputes
Advise company on appropriate legal principles especially as it regards interpretation of insurance policies and claims adjustment
Arrange and attend pre-trial conferences
Attend court sessions on behalf of the company when necessary
Build relationships with our external solicitors.


Claims
Oversee the activities of the Claims Team
Ensure that the company’s claims administration processes comply with best practice
Ensure adherence to the approved Claims policies and procedures
Contribute to the development of policy wordings

 Skills and Specifications
Should have the deep knowledge of corporate regulatory environment, company rules/laws and board practices/norms.
 Must have good communication and relationship management skills.
 Must be able to schedule meetings with company legal advisors and board of directors.

Education and Qualification
Must be a graduate of Law, LLM is desirable but not essential
An MBA or SMP/AMP is also desirable but not a pre-requisite
Should have ICSA Qualifications
Minimum 10 years work experience.  It is desirable for the candidate to have spent some years in the position of a

Job Title: MANAGEMENT ACCOUNT OFFICER

Reports To: Unit  Head - Management Accounts

 Job Objective: Financial Accounting And Analysis

 Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Taxation Computation
Review of other debtor, Loss Adjuster and Third Party Claimant ledgers.
 Weekly reconciliation of Finance to relevant underwriting figures.
 Preparation of Monthly Management  Report (MMR)
 Salary schedule review and update of soft copy to the bank
 Partake in the preparation of financial statements
 Preparation of financial models
 Preparation of monthly profitability report (MPR)
 Presentation of the MPR
 Monthly review of Domiciliary Accounts
 Commission payment
 Preparation of FINSTAT Highlights and other financial analysis as required
 Responsible for the opening of ledger accounts.
 Verification of all expenses before payment is made.
 Participation in yearly budget exercise
 Take minutes at MPR
 Pre and post audit review(internal and external)
 Information gathering  for the Insurance industry
 Carry out other duties that may be delegated from time to time by the Unit Head
