Introduction to APMT CIS - Nigeria Cluster
APMT CIS NGA Cluster covers Central Africa i.e Nigeria, Cameroun, and Congo.
The core activities in the Cluster comprise ICD services, container sales, export stuffing, trucking and EMR services. APMT CIS renders services to shipping lines but is increasingly involved in delivering services directly to importers and exporters.

Areas of Responsibility
Ø Direct the activities in the Finance Departments for APMT CIS entities and Finance and Accounting Section within Finance Departments for shared entities throughout the Cluster and ensure continued strive for excellence and efficiency.
Ø Ensure a general understanding of all finance department functions, IT systems and accounting principles and practices throughout the Cluster.
Ø Monitor general ledger postings, ensuring that accounting records are accurate and established standards, both local and APMM GAP, are adhered to throughout the Cluster.
Ø Perform revenue and cost planning and controlling for Cluster Cost- and Profit centers
Ø Execute the development and implementation of IT-financial systems throughout the Cluster.
Ø Ensure that policies and guidelines are developed in accordance with overall strategies and policies set out and envisioned by the Cluster Manager, hereunder specifically with respect to areas covered by the Finance and Accounting Section throughout the Cluster.
Ø Oversees development of local policies, procedures and strategic objectives for the Finance function throughout the Cluster.
Ø Support Cluster Management in developing business cases and investments proposal based on Cluster strategic objectives

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Ø Manage the accounting sections with the aim of achieving the finance department objectives as stipulated by the Cluster Manager throughout the Cluster. Structure tasks and goals, establish efficient courses of action, set priorities, organize information, efficiently execute daily tasks with following considerations:
a) Data quality and timeliness
b) Segregation of duties
c) Supportive behavior
d) Efficient processes
Ø Monitor general ledger postings, ensuring that accounting records are accurate and established standards, both local and APMM GAP, are adhered to. This specifically includes for all entities throughout the Cluster (but is not limited to):
a) Checking subsidiary ledgers and supporting documentation
b) Reviewing reconciliation entries
a) Making accurate and appropriate accruals
Ø Execute the development and implementation of IT-financial systems, with a focus on using all relevant functionalities of the IT-financial systems. Strive towards reduction of section workload through implementation of IT solution is close co-operation with the Cluster Manager.
Ø Develop financial and accounting policies, standard operation procedures and guidelines within area of responsibility including accounting and other major areas throughout the Cluster.
Ø Oversee the preparation of statutory reporting in direct liaison with company auditors. Co-ordinates auditing of company accounts with external auditors in accordance with guidelines stipulated by the Cluster Manager throughout the Cluster.
Ø Continuous development of own knowledge to ensure full awareness of the budgeting and reporting section as well as a solid background in finance industry business in general.
Ø Maintain and enhance relationships between departments.
Ø The position will be responsible for setting and achieving the financial objectives, within the strategy and business plans of the Cluster.
Ø The position is required to continuously analyze complex issues and work towards enhancements on existing practices & procedures and find means to better cost management for Cluster.
Ø Establishs and enforces procedures to improve working routines, provide high quality and valuable information and analyses to aid decision making, achieve efficiencies in terms of costs and ensure that all subjects relating to the financials of the Cluster are dealt with in the most efficient manner.
Ø Leads and co-ordinates the risk management strategy of the Cluster and makes recommendations to the Cluster Manager and management team in the risk assessment and management process.
Ø Financial supervision of projects including but not limited to investment contracts througout the Cluster.
Ø Ensures that matters within scope of responsibility comply with local Law, Local Regulations and APMT’s Strategy and Culture througout the Cluster.
Ø Ensures and establishs of proper internal controls and manage financial issues relating to shareholders and the Cluster Manager.
Ø Manages key suppliers to ensure that cost effective solutions are provided for the Cluster.
Ø Ensures that a proper inventory management system is in place throughout the Cluster.
Manages, motivates, coachs and instructs departmental staff and fosters interdepartamental communication and co-operation throughout the Cluster.

REPORTING AND SCOPE

Ø The position reports directly to the Cluster Manager
Ø The position scope is domestic throughout the Cluster.

The position has an indirect, functional reporting line to the Regional Head of Finance to ensure that company standard procedures are put into place at the Cluster level
CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
(IPE Factor: Knowledge)
Ø The position requires a professional standard of knowledge to lead teams through functional/general expertise in the finance and associated functions.
Ø Completed post-graduate studies in Accountancy or Finance management or related business studies.
Ø Minimum 5 years in finance roles including management experience.
Ø Extensive knowledge of setting of budgets, reporting, inventory control systems and accounting.
Ø Understanding of the container shipping industry and an ability to relate with shipping company and other associated industry managers.
Ø Able to provide vision and empowers others to take action by effectively delegating.
Ø Ability to provide leadership, obtain cooperation and assistance to meet objectives, and promote a team environment.
Ø Requires good verbal and written communications skills, in addition to effective interpersonal skills.
Ø Requires excellent analytical skills, including the ability to extract, compile and analyze data.
Ø Must be able to exercise discretion and good judgment
