WAEC Withholds 67,443 Nov/Dec 2010 Results - Waec Result Out!!

A total 67,443 results are being withheld in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASCE) conducted in November/December this year, an exercise also characterised by poor performance.
West African Examinations Council (WAEC) Media Head at the Nigerian National Office, Iyi Uwadiae, told a press conference in Lagos on Thursday that the majority of the candidates could not score above two credits.

"Statistics show that 250,487 candidates, representing 80.73 per cent, have two credits and some passes; while 217,161 candidates, that make up about 70.03 per cent, have three credits and some passes," he said.

WAEC withheld the results of 67,443 candidates for malpractices and computational errors during online registration.

Of this number, the results of 51,876 candidates are withheld for malpractices, and 15,567 because of improper processing of their online registration.

A total of 133,507 candidates, representing 43.06 per cent, obtained credits and above in English language, while 151,569 candidates, which is about 48.88 per cent of the total candidates, obtained credits and above in mathematics," Uwadiae said.

Thirty three blind candidates sat for the examination, and four obtained credits in five subjects, including English Language and mathematics.
